I am directed by the Lords of the Committee of Privy Council for Trade to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 7th instant, enclosing a despatch from the Acting Governor of Hong Kong on the subject of the payment of the sum of One thousand dollars ($1000) to Chinese Sink Master for the conveyance of passengers to that Port of the British Ship Ardville:
In reply, I am to state for the information of the Duke of Newcastle, that my Lords are prepared to repay the amount to the Government of Hong Kong out of the Vote for relief of distressed Colonial Officer.
